Subject: DAP Survey
The survey used for 1st grade was completed by the teachers and had 6 or 7 questions. I was unsuccessful in getting a hard copy so I am including some of the questions
Survey questions: Does your family eat healthy meals? Can you ask your parents for help with homework? Does your family go to church? Do you feel safe at home/school? Do you have chores at home? Does your family participate in community activities? Do you stay away from tobacco, alcohol and other drugs? Do you have good neighbors who watch out for you? Do you accept people who are different from you? Do you deal with frustration/anger in positive ways? There were also questions about future education and career choices. There were 50 questions on the survey. ___________________________________________-

A copy of the order form is attached.
Due to the rules, given by the company, which can be found on the order form (https://www.search-institute.org/surveys/professional-standards-of-survey-users/), we will not give out a physical copy of the survey. The survey can be viewed only at the Board Office.
I have time today but limited time tomorrow to sit with you to view the survey.
Please let me know when you would like to come in and view the survey.
Also please note, the public records law requires inquiries to be filed within a reasonable period of time. I am trying to accommodate the time frame you have requested, but note in the future 1 1/2 business days to fill a request may not be a reasonable period of time to complete the request.

I did meet with her in person and she had a printed copy of the fifth and ninth grade surveys to be given to those students. Again, she said that they only get the surveys from the above website. I did review them and it appears that they are building a profile on each student. I consider the surveys to be an invasion of the student's privacy but again as I asked Jill, What happens to the survey results when they are returned to this company for compilation and then returned back to the school? Another concern is, and I did ask her, what happens to the information returned to the Institute? Do they have privacy protection that this information isn't given to third parties? She didn't know but my guess is there is no protection.

There was no formal contract for these services. There is a hyperlink in the form (towards the bottom), "professional standards of survey research" that takes you to their website. All emails to the company.Invoices and payments to the company. We have only made a partial payment to this company at this point in time. There were no meeting minutes approving this expenditure. District practice/policy is anything over $10,000 goes to the board for approval, as this was not over $10,000 there was no requirement for formal approval.

I was advised about two violations on surveys: Ohio Revised Code 3313.60 Sec G and Fed Act US Code/text/20/1232h (www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/20/1232h)
Parents also have the right to know the results. Per Jill, the Board never asked what that company does with those results and did not negotiate any language to prevent those results being sold or sent to any third party, a violation of HIPPA laws. The school only receives the compilation of results from the services this company is being paid to perform. LINK TO DOC BELOW:

-----Original Message-----From: XXXXXXXSent: Wed, Oct 19, 2022 9:23 pmSubject: DAP Survey - 5th and 9th Grade survey
Good evening. The purpose of this email is to bring you up-to-date on the DAP survey situation which was one of the topics brought to the Board's attention during the School Board Meeting on Monday evening, October 17.
A string of emails brought a matter to light regarding the DAP version that some fifth and ninth grade parents viewed. The email between Search Institute (the online survey subscription company) and Lori Sancin, Director of Pupil Services, surfaced the fact that there are two versions of the DAP survey, one without gender expansion and one with gender expansion. Given the dates of the emails, it was apparent that Lori received four attachments in August, two of which were survey versions with gender expansion. However, Lori requested in September that she be emailed the versions without gender expansion "because I have a few parents requesting to see it before allowing their student to participate on Monday". To me that meant that the version parents saw was without gender expansion.
I have scheduled a meeting with Lori this Monday, October 24, at the School Board Building at 8:00 a.m. to review both versions. I do not have children in this school system but I am a taxpayer. However, I would like to hear from parents, especially those with fifth grade or ninth grade students, to ask if they would be available and willing to join me in the meeting with Lori. At that time, I will also present her with copies of the federal and state laws that they violated in the handling of this survey to put them on notice.
As you may be aware, SEL indoctrination begins in January 2023 and the first step of the SEL process is to begin to profile our children and use the student's survey results as a baseline promoting data collection on every child. In addition to providing the law to Lori, I will explain that all parents are by law permitted to see their child's survey results.
If you are interested in joining me, please respond to this email and provide your name and phone number.
Thank you.

Berea City Schools participating in behavioral monitoring of your elementary school children. Parents: opt out!

Marisa Wissman contacted POC to notify us that she no longer works for The Diversity Center and no longer working in Berea City Schools.
04-13-22 Tip came in that Berea School Board meeting included a presentation opposing Ohio House Bill 616
RESPONSE FROM PARENT:Follow up - You continue to speak the words of non-truth in this email as shown by the attached flyer. You, not the Berea City Schools then are not stating the true meaning of this state bill. You, and others, are lying, putting your own agenda in the flyer “Inspired by Florida’s Don’t Say Gay Bill” when you know 100% that you are saying words that are NOT part of the bill! Again, this return email continues to show the efforts of this school PTA along with Berea City Schools pushing an agenda, taking words that DON’T exist, and pushing MISINFORMATION! This bill is not just for the LGBTQ kids, it is so some adult cannot talk to the littlest of humans about SEX or SEXUAL content until they are 9! 9!!!
Again Berea City Schools and this PTA should be ashamed of themselves - and you expect kids to be honest when this group cannot!!!
Sad days…

Our postcards in no way promote sex education and our PTA does not currently have a resolution for or against that. PTA is in support of the protection of LGBT students and families. All postcards being written will be sent to Columbus, not our BOE or Mrs. Wheeler. From a Berea School District Parent:
I am writing my disappoint, as well as my disguise to the Berea City School District that is ALLOWING the Grindstone PTA to promote and actually take part in a "SIGNING of TEMPLATE PROVIDED TO SMALL CHILDREN" to block the passage of H.B. 616. To continue to FALSELY allow our school district to promote MISTRUTHS over FACTS is deeply appalling to me! To actively engage in something like this with SMALL CHILDREN IS A FORM OF ABUSE! These kids look up to adults, listen to adults, and will do whatever adults what them to do! THEY have no understanding! YOUR SCHOOL SYSTEM is PUSHING young children in Elementary School to think if they like to play in dirt, maybe they are a boy - or a wear makeup they maybe are a boy!! They are KIDS being innocent kids and you are ALLOWING this!
House Bill 616 bans the instruction and materials about SEXUAL ORIENTATION and GENDER IDENTIFY from KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THIRD GRADE in all public and most private schools. HOW DARE you and the board continuously say sex education is not in the elementary schools but yet we have GRINDSTONE PTA promoting this!!
The bill further states that grade four and higher could discuss these issues, but "any curriculum or instructional materials on sexual orientation or gender identify" would be "Age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards." Seriously, and there is a problem with this. How about teaching reading, writing, or math? How about just teaching kids to be kids? Not sure if you have kids, but I am so sure you have permitted a teacher to talk about these types of things with your small children, right?
WHY WOULD OUR SCHOOL DISTRICTS be opposed to this?? Who has given the SCHOOLS the right OVER the parents?? What is the real agenda here? I try not to be that conspiracy person but this has sealed the fact that there is no conspiracy but a conspiracy to indoctrinate YOUNG children, children that are CHILDREN, the littlest ones, again WHY????
Furthermore, the bill stops the use of CRT in schools, again - this has been told by YOU and the so-called BOARD - that this was NOT BE TAUGHT in Berea City Schools.
I am sending this email to as many people as I can because I saw how my letter about the bullying in Berea ended up, it is still happening. I am done just talking and thinking in today's society that common sense will prevail - but I see this is not the case.
As a tax payor to the City of Brook Park, which I understand our Superintendent does not reside in the district, this act of GRINDSTONE PTA, that you are ALLOWING to happen - I have no words. SEE BELOW
