Tip received 12/20/23:
Troy City Schools in Troy, Ohio uses Second Step as their SEL curriculum. This curriculum was chosen after using Panorama for two years. The Panorama assessment is no longer administered, but the Second Step program has been implemented district wide at least K-6th grade.

Social Emotional Learning is in Troy City Schools
Troy City Schools in Troy, Ohio has contracted with Panorama (since last year, I believe). They are giving student surveys during school hours on their Chromebooks. When questioned at the board meetings, the BOE “assures” us that CRT is not in Troy Schools. (Fortunately, this particular long-standing board member was not re-elected in the recent primary election.)
I have opted my children out of these surveys; however, it is infused in the curriculum.
A few weeks after that statement the board member, my son sent me a screenshot of his Chromebook. He is a freshman taking Spanish I. It was an assignment to “categorize each circumstance into a “Push Factor” (pushes a person out of their native country), or a “Pull Factor” (pulls/brings them…”
Another screenshot from that page with “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” across the top. “June 6, 2019 by COPDEI …Migrant Farm Workers: Our Nation’s Invisible Population” https://copdei.extension.org/
I thought he was signing up for a foreign language class, not a social justice class. Again, this is in Spanish I at Troy High School.
I am not sure what else to do. We are “assured” by our BOE that they are not teaching CRT despite being questioned about the Panorama scandal in the news recently and the DEI and SEL surveys distributed to our students from this company. They will not discontinue the contract. I have shared this on social media with a group of other parents. We have involved parents present at board meetings.
