Tip received 3/22/25: Below are some of the most common signs of exploitation. These posters are hanging in the High School.
-Testing boundaries: Pushing small boundaries to see how the victim reacts, gradually escalating inappropriate behavior. Like desensitizing children to conversations about sexual content, drug abuse and masochism.-Isolating the victim: Trying to separate the victim from their friends, family, or support systems. Like when schools pit themselves against parents and use terms like "trusted adult". Also, assigning group or in class projects like these that are not likely to go home with the students.-Building trust: Appearing kind, understanding, or generous to gain the victim's confidence. Utilizing dynamics that already exist between staff and students. -Giving gifts or favors: This can create a sense of obligation or dependency. Achieved by simply abusing or repurposing PBIS strategies these tactics are easily concealed under.
