London City Schools
Protect Ohio ChildrenAcademic Accountability Project August 2022
A tip came in (below). We will put the district on "watch"
Activism and "Day of Silence" being promoted at this school.
Math teacher teaching students how to defund the police. Not sure what action was taken by the school. The school did state the matter was dealt with after one board member pressed the issue. The teacher has since resigned.Middle school counselor, sent an email to the students school email accounts regarding silent activism for LGBTQ. I know this was sent to 6th grade students, not sure if it went to 7th and 8th grade as well. A screenshot of the email is attached. The school says this was dealt with but will not disclose how nor will they guarantee this will not happen again. Only stated that federal mandates require that the school not discriminate. I understand that and do not condone discrimination of any student. Activism and practicing activism however does not belong in the school.

AUG 10, 2020
The London City School District recently received a grant award from the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services for K-12 Prevention Education to provide additional resources to provide support for students to overcome barriers to achieving in the classroom. The grant opportunity was introduced last winter in collaboration with the Mental Health Recovery Board of Clark, Greene and Madison Counties and approved this summer. London City Schools will be awarded funding to expand its current youth led prevention efforts at London High School named the Teen Leaders of London. Working with Madison County Prevention, the group will focus efforts on an evidenced based model that empowers youth to affect change in their communities in regards to substance abuse prevention.
The grant will also support the district purchase of a supplemental social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. Social emotional learning focuses on building skills for students to effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. By asking students and teachers in grades K-12 to reflect on SEL through surveys, our district leaders will gain actionable data to better understand how to support students socially and emotionally. This new investment in SEL will lead to improved classroom behavior, better stress management and academic achievement.
